The artist Pavel Šimon (Prague, 16. 6. 1920 – 26. 6. 1958) was educated at the Academy of Fine-Arts in Prague.
He graduated in 1946. He was a pupil of professor Pukl and a son of the renowned painter Tavík František Šimon and his wife Vilma Kracikova. Pavel Šimon grew up in the villa-quarter of Bubenec, in the villa Na Zatorce 483 (later called V Tisine 10) in Prague.
He was the youngest of 4 children: Kamil (* Paris 1906 - † 05 .09.1912), Eva (* Paris 18.07.1908 - † Prague 29.05. 1997),  Ivan (*05.06.1914) and Pavel.
Pavel Šimon is well-known for his book-illustrations and ex-libris, but he was a painter too.

Pavel was married twice. His first wife was the female artist Vera Kaplanová (* Prague 23.08.1920). With her he had a daughter Alena
(* Prague 1950). Vera studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1939), she was a pupil of Cyril Bouda and O. Blazicka.

After he divorced Vera, Pavel married his second wife Mila Hudera.
They lived with his mother Vilma in the villa Na Zatorce 483, Prague.
Their son Petr
Šimon was born shortly after Pavel died. Vilma Šimonova died in 1959.
Mila, her son and her new husband the Czech dissident Vaclav Ottl fled the country in 1969 and settled in Zürich, because of the dangerous situation in Czechoslovakia after the fall of the Dubcek government.
Ottl became a classical master at, for example, the Kantonsschule Zürcher Unterland in Switzerland.
Since a few years Pavel Šimon's artworks are on the art-market again. There are many admirers from different countries.
We show on this page some paintings and works of art with different methods, such as mezzotint, woodcut, etching, aquatint, watercolour and drawing in pencil, to give an impression of the artist's own style.
