The Trade Fair Palace has the largest
collection of modern and contemporary arts in Prague, presented on six
floors. The collection of Czech and French art before 1940 is marvellous. Inside the building you have the feeling to be in a prison and the light is terrible; some guards are wearing sunglasses because of the bad light. But..... when you are in Prague, you really must see this collection. Don`t miss the great Czech painters like Vitezlav Karel Masek (1865-1927), with his nude girls in trees, Max Švabinský and Max Pirner. And what a shame: only one painting of T.F. Šimon is shown (but it is a masterpiece) and no painting at all of Hugo Boettinger! |
